Thank you!

First, we’d like to thank everyone that attended the event, volunteers and visitors alike! Because of massive flooding after a break in the libraries water main, we almost had to cancel the event altogether, which would have been tragic. However, thanks to the hard work and dedication from our amazing volunteers and student organizations, Fletcher Libraries first annual International Games Day was still on and was a success! Everything was awesome, but mostly, everything was cool because we’re part of a team! A total of 424 people visited us throughout the day, making this one of our biggest and successful events in recent years! Raffles and Prizes by Jesse James Comics

Courtesy of Jesse James Comics at 10620 N 43rd Ave in Glendale, Fletcher will be raffling off gift baskets full of comics and figurines all day long to everyone who visits. Throughout the day we will be giving away 3 separate prize bags to randomly selected visitors. We’d like to tell you what’s in the bags, but you’ll just have to come visit us and find out yourselves!

Less than one month to Fletcher Library International Game Day! With the event looming so close, we thought it would be nice for a little update! Let’s take a look at just a few of the many things that’ll be going on Saturday, November 15^th from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM.

• The computing commons will be setting up and configuring 30 macs, exclusively for gaming!
• Roughly 5 different older and next gen consoles will all be hooked to 50” TV’s for single and multiplayer games of all kinds
• At least 10 large gaming tables will be set up for tabletop and card games of all types
• Fletcher will be ordering 24 pizzas, free and first come first serve for all who attend
• ASUW Cosclub and other local costuming groups from around the valley will be in full costume and sharing their costume making tips for anyone interested. Everyone else is also invited to come in full costume
• ASUW Cosclub will also be providing a full Minecraft themed area for photos including an 8 foot ender dragon, cows, pigs, endermen, ores of all types, and props
• The library will be providing a dedicated Minecraft Hunger Games server that can host up to 32 players at a time. Visitors can connect using their own personal laptops or use our dedicated PCs.
• Two volunteers will be chosen on the day of the event to compete against other libraries across the world in a Minecraft Hunger Games Tournament
• Nintendo DS street passing all day long

Minecraft Hunger Games Tournament

Have you played Minecraft? Do you like the Hunger Games? Have you played one of Minecraft’s most popular mod, Minecraft Hunger Games? Are your skills of epic proportions? Then we want you! This year Fletcher Library will be participating in the American Library Association’s Minecraft Hunger Games Tournament. We will be selecting one boy and one girl to represent our library district and send them to compete with other libraries around the world for a chance to be the Minecraft hunger games champions. Represent your district and help us take home the gold!

The library will be providing a dedicated server that can host up to 32 players at once, whether you want to participate in the actual tournament, or just have fun with a group. Although we will provide multiple PC’s for visitors, personal laptops are also welcome!

Free Pizza, Snacks, and Beverages

Yes, you heard us right! On the day of the event, Saturday November 15^th, Fletcher will be providing free pizza, snacks, and drinks for everyone who attends. No sense in gaming on an empty stomach. All we ask is that you help us keep the library clean and tidy, and avoid playing games with greasy fingers.

What kind of an International Game Day would we be hosting if we didn’t provide an entire day of free gaming!? All day long on Saturday, November 15^th join us at Fletcher library for gaming of all kinds. Whether you’re a video gamer, or you prefer the tabletop, we have something for everyone. You can choose to play tons of PC games, or even console games on 50” TV’s. If you’re not in to that, borrow some of the libraries popular tabletop games for free. Still don’t like what we have? Since we’re a library, we’re all about sharing the things we love with other people. If you feel the same, bring in your favorite tabletop or video games to play with friends (new or old).

Nintendo DS Street Passing

Do you have a Nintendo DS? Do you need to collect more puzzle pieces, battle through dungeons, visit other towns, trade a Pokémon, or smash some bros? Then you’ve come to the right place! Bring your DS and street pass other gamers all day long, or get together and co-op some games! Have social anxiety? No problem! Let your mii do all the talking, no human interaction required. Whatever your style, come visit us and pass those streets!

Minecraft Themed Photo Booth

Compliments of the ASU West Cosclub, visit the Minecraft themed “photo booth” and take a souvenir picture with the 8 foot Ender Dragon. Didn’t wear a costume? No problem! Borrow our Minecraft outfit and weapon props and take your picture in style. But be careful, we’ve heard that creepers have been seen in the area.
