Thank you!

First, we’d like to thank everyone that attended the event, volunteers and visitors alike! Because of massive flooding after a break in the libraries water main, we almost had to cancel the event altogether, which would have been tragic. However, thanks to the hard work and dedication from our amazing volunteers and student organizations, Fletcher Libraries first annual International Games Day was still on and was a success! Everything was awesome, but mostly, everything was cool because we’re part of a team! A total of 424 people visited us throughout the day, making this one of our biggest and successful events in recent years! Check out our Gallery to see pictures from the event, and mark us down on your calendar for next year when the event will be bigger and better than ever!

Last but not least, we’d like to give a very special thanks to all the volunteers who helped make the event a success: ASUW Cosclub, Jesse James Comics, AZ MIB, Konami Gaming, Imperial Outpost Games, The Gaming Zone, and more.

Tabletop Games

In 2013 Fletcher library joined hundreds of other libraries that have began collecting tabletop games for students to borrow, for free! The collection was created following requests from  ASU West campus faculty members who both teach courses and conduct research in the area of play and game studies. The ASU West faculty and collection was even featured in “The Art of Video Games,” an exhibition at the Phoenix Art Museum. On November 15th, 2014 Fletcher Library participated in our first annual International Games Day  in which we had a total of 424 visitors throughout the day. With your help, we hope to raise awareness for this awesome collection and help promote the importance of tabletop games in learning and literacy.

You can check out our game collection and information on each game, including instructional videos, in this blog, or visit our BoardGameGeek profile to see what we currently own.

We look forward to gaming with you!
