Thank you!

First, we’d like to thank everyone that attended the event, volunteers and visitors alike! Because of massive flooding after a break in the libraries water main, we almost had to cancel the event altogether, which would have been tragic. However, thanks to the hard work and dedication from our amazing volunteers and student organizations, Fletcher Libraries first annual International Games Day was still on and was a success! Everything was awesome, but mostly, everything was cool because we’re part of a team! A total of 424 people visited us throughout the day, making this one of our biggest and successful events in recent years! Check out our Gallery to see pictures from the event, and mark us down on your calendar for next year when the event will be bigger and better than ever!

Last but not least, we’d like to give a very special thanks to all the volunteers who helped make the event a success: ASUW Cosclub, Jesse James Comics, AZ MIB, Konami Gaming, Imperial Outpost Games, The Gaming Zone, and more.

Districts of Panem

Greetings tributes,

As you may well know by now, to commemorate the yearly International Games Day event, this year we have added an extra twist to Minecraft Hunger Games, as a reminder that even the strongest among us cannot overcome the Capitol (Ann Arbor District Library). We have at this moment 79 registered “Districts” (i.e. libraries) – 59 in North America, 9 in Europe, and 11 in Australia, and you will be competing against ALL of them, to determine who the victor is. Our tributes will be representing us, ASU Fletcher Library (ASUFL), District 101, producers of Heavy Metal and Space Exploration.

Over the next week, each District will hold whatever qualifying events they choose to select the two players to represent their library, and the 2 selected Tributes from each of these libraries all over the world will be pitted against each other inside Minecraft arenas! Then, the International Minecraft Hunger Games regional semifinals, begin Saturday afternoon, November 15th.

Victors will advance to Regional Finals, and each regional Victor will then face off in an International Final Match!

May the odds be ever in your favor…

Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game Duelist League

If you’re already a seasoned pro or feel your newly acquired skills are up to the test, visitors are welcome to bring their own decks and compete in our Duelist League, for a chance to win a Duelist League Prize Pack!

Each visitor wanting to participate in the Duelist League need only let a library staff member know, and we will issue you three Duelist tickets. There is no scheduled start or stop time, and duelists that earn 5 tickets by defeating their opponents can “cash in” to win a duelist league rare card!
