Munchkin Legends

MunchkinLegendsIN

Achilles’ heels were made for walkin’, and that’s just what they’ll do, Saturday, November 15th they’re gonna walk all over you. Come visit Fletcher from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM and enjoy a mostly-friendly-but-probably-not game of Munchkin, legends style.

Raid the world of myth and legend! Crush every foe you meet. Backstab your friends and steal their stuff. Grab the treasure and run.

Munchkin Legends is the new Munchkin card game about legendary adventure…with none of that stupid roleplaying stuff. You’ll defeat mythic monsters and grab fabled magic items! Don the Death Mask and Achilles’ Heels. Wield Thor’s Hammer…or maybe the Magic Bassoon. Start by slaughtering the Heebie-Jeebies and Johnny Zucchiniseed, and work your way up to the Kraken…

Dungeons & Dragons: Castle Ravenloft Board Game

Ravenloft All Ravenloft_Boardgame_Dungeon_And_Miniature_Figures

The master of Ravenloft is having guests for dinner – and you are invited!

Evil lurks in the towers and dungeons of Castle Ravenloft, and only heroes of exceptional bravery can survive the horrors within. Designed for 1-5 players, this boardgame features multiple scenarios, challenging quests, and cooperative gameplay.

Each player selects a hero; a ranger, rogue, warrior, cleric, or wizard. On their turn, each player can explore further into the dungeon (turn over new tiles), move through the already explored parts of the dungeon, and fight monsters. When a new dungeon tile is revealed, there is typically an encounter of some sort, and new monsters to fight are added. Slain monsters reward the players with treasure, and experience points, allowing them to level up and increase their skills during play. Players must cooperate to stay alive, slay the monsters, and achieve the goal of their quest. Each scenario has a different goal – from retrieving a relic, to slaying a vampire lord.

Tabletop Games

In 2013 Fletcher library joined hundreds of other libraries that have began collecting tabletop games for students to borrow, for free! The collection was created following requests from  ASU West campus faculty members who both teach courses and conduct research in the area of play and game studies. The ASU West faculty and collection was even featured in “The Art of Video Games,” an exhibition at the Phoenix Art Museum. On November 15th, 2014 Fletcher Library participated in our first annual International Games Day  in which we had a total of 424 visitors throughout the day. With your help, we hope to raise awareness for this awesome collection and help promote the importance of tabletop games in learning and literacy.

You can check out our game collection and information on each game, including instructional videos, in this blog, or visit our BoardGameGeek profile to see what we currently own.

We look forward to gaming with you!
